Put ICE on your Cellphone

A recent article from the Toronto Star, "the ICE idea", is catching
on and it is a very simple, yet important method of contact for you
or a loved one in case of an emergency. As cell phones are carried by
the majority of the population, all you need to do is program the
number of a contact person or persons and store the name as "ICE".
The idea w as thought up by a paramedic who found that when they went
to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with
patients, but they didn't know which numbers to call.

He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a
nationally recognized name to file "next of kin" under. Following a
disaster in London The East Anglian Ambulance Service has launched a
national "In case of Emergency (ICE)" campaign. The idea is that you
store the word "ICE" in your mobile phone address book, and with it
enter the number of the person you would want to be contacted "In
Case of Emergency ". In an emergency situation, Emergency Services
personnel and hospital staff would then be able to quickly find the
contact information under "ICE".

Please forward this. It won't take too many "forwards" before
everybody will know about this. It really could save your life, or
put a loved one's mind at rest. For more than one contact name simply
enter ICE1, ICE2, ICE3 etc.

A great idea that could make a difference!

Really, its a great idea.

Another thing, halos lahat ng cellphone ngaun, kailangan na ng PIN para ma-unlock.  so meron mang good samaritan that would like to inform your family, mabubuwang sya sa panghuhula kung papano i-access ang cellphone mo.

So the system has a very slim chance of success.  But in case of disaster, that slim chance might make a difference!

Cooperate!

O nga its a very good idea! Minsan in the ER we have trouble identifying next of kin, especially pag unconscious ang patient, or dead. Marami kasi walang IDs sa wallet. Or wala ng wallets. Once we tried the last dialed number on a patient's mobile phone, and asked the one who answered to inform the folks. It worked. Kinda on the same topic, meron ako gold tennis bracelet na may little cross na may naka etch, "I'm Catholic, please call a priest." But I hardly wear it din. Siguro pwede dun ang name and number ng next of kin.

Which reminds me, I hafta activate the locks on my mobile phones ulit. Nyahaha!

Magaling magkunwari, madaling makilala
Balat-kayong ginagamit kahit hindi sa pirata
Magnanakaw pa rin ang nakikita sa kanya"

Hahaha, maraming tutol jan.

1st, the general population would still want to maintain the illusion of privacy in this age, kahit na halos lahat ng actions natin, marami ng nakakalaam.

2nd, ung sistema ng RFID sa humans, could be abused.
